THE POWER GAME

The second series of acclaimed ATV drama THE POWER GAME is available to buy for the first time on DVD, courtesy of Network, at the end of the week. The show was an ITV ratings winner in the 60s, and again in the mid-80s when it was repeated on Channel 4, and has been impatiently anticipated by many collectors since Network released the first series.

Written as a spin-off drama to the popular THE PLANE MAKERS, the character of power-hungry and recently knighted Managing Director John Wilder (Patrick Wymark) is back again, newly knighted and with a seat on the board of a merchant bank. Power struggles continue as John Wilder continues his climb up the ruthless corporate ladder much to everyone else's horror. Will Sir John's meteoric rise be as successful as in the first series or will he come tumbling down?

A vivid portrayal of the burgeoning capitalist arena of the late Sixties THE POWER GAME is a classic high-stake drama that has never previously available in any format. It will appeal to fans of high quality drama serials, soaps and boardroom dramas.

The four-disc box set contains all thirteen episodes from the second series and runs to around 650 minutes in total. Priced at just £39.99. The check discs have just arrived as I was preparing this page, so a full review of the title will follow shortly.
