During the summer, BBC7 repeated the two series originally broadcast on Radio 4 in 1976 and in 1977, however, observant listeners will have noted the episode Liberty Bar (Series 2, no. 9) was omitted from the schedules. Further investigation was made into this by BBC7 and it was promised that this omission will be rectified int he next run of the series.

In total there were nineteen 45-minute stories which were based on the novels written by Georges Simenon, who anchored the series, opening each play with a brief discussion with his character Jules Maigret. Simenon was played by Michael Gough and Maigret by Maurice Denham (using the same voice as he did for Poirot in the Mystery of the Blue Train - almost the case of killing two birds with one stone!). In addition to the almost complete run on BBC7, BBC Worldwide have issued a number of cassettes, and where I have details, I have indicated their release.
