Campion

Campion VHS
Albert Campion is the 1930s creation of Margery Allingham and was played in this late 80s BBC series by Peter Davison, with Brian Glover as his sidekick, Magersfontein Lugg. Campion works in the same sort of aristocratic circles as Lord Peter Wimsey or Poirot, but was certainly nearer to Lord Peter in character, an amateur detective.

His stomping ground was, again, similar to Lord Peter, East Anglia, and the mild mannered appearance was in contrast to his high morals and principles. A total of eight stories were made (although Allingham wrote 26 books with Campion as the star) over two series, and Acorn Media have just released two volumes on double VHS priced just £19.99 each containing 4 of the episodes, and one on DVD, containing filmographies, Margery Allingham Biography, Bibliography and scene indexing .
